A few Omaha pools end the pool season with a Doggie Dip on their last day of business with all proceeds going to benefit the Nebraska Humane Society. It costs just $5 per dog, which also admits two people ($1 for each additional person after two). It’s a perfect opportunity to let your dog cool off, have fun, and socialize with other dogs. Gallagher Pool has a Doggie Dip scheduled for August 13, 2017 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.
Grab Some Drinks in Midtown Crossing
Bring your dog with you to enjoy dinner and drinks on the patios in Midtown Crossing this summer. Every second and fourth Tuesday of the month from May through September, Midtown Crossing at Turner Park allows you to bring your dog to participating patios in the area. The Patio Pup Crawl runs between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00pm, and each night will be hosted by a different dog-centric organization in Omaha.
Catch a Baseball Game
Take your best friend out to an Omaha Storm Chasers game this summer. Every Wednesday night game is Bark in the Park night, where dogs are welcome to join their owners on the right field grass berm for a great night of baseball. Bark in the Park nights won’t cost you anything extra if you want to bring your dog. You just need to purchase a ticket for yourself.
Listen to Live Jazz at Turner Park
For more fun at Midtown Crossing, head to Jazz on the Green every Thursday from July 6, 2017 through August 10, 2017 in Turner Park. The park opens at 5:00pm and live music begins at 7:30pm. This event is always dog-friendly and a great chance to catch live music and enjoy the great outdoors with your furry friend.
Go Out for Ice Cream
Take your dog out for ice cream on June 24, 2017 at Hefflinger Dog Park on 112th and Maple. This Ice Cream Social runs from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, and it’s suggested you bring a $5 donation. The first 250 dogs get free ice cream provided by Long Dog Fat Cat, and the first 100 people get free ice cream courtesy of Honey Creek Creamery.
Visit Lauritzen Gardens
Explore 100 acres and miles of trails at Lauritzen Gardens with your family and the family dog. Leashes at Lauritzen is a fun way to enjoy the outdoors with the family pet. Water and treats are available at stations throughout the garden, and there are plenty of other dogs to interact with. These events run from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, and admission is $10 per person and $5 per dog.
Go Shopping
There are several stores, events, and other businesses around Omaha that allow customers to bring their dogs with them. If you need to grab new tools or plants, Lowe’s & Mulhall’s always allow dogs to accompany their owners in stores. The Green Spot is another great store for shopping with your dog.
